SAN MATEO, Calif., Jan. 31, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -, the commercial leader in is offering the first Windows-based solution for non-production Cassandra development. The company recently polled its user-base and the Cassandra community to determine the most popular platforms used for development work and found that the vast majority used Mac and Windows as their primary development platform.

(Logo: ) The DataStax Community Edition for Windows is one of the first offerings in the New Year to be introduced by the company and builds on a successful 2011 that saw Cassandra move into the mainstream and power innovative products delivered by DataStax that address the scalability, ease-of-use, and performance needed by big data applications. The new free offering will provide a smart graphical installer for Windows that bundles the latest edition of Cassandra, all key utilities including the Cassandra Query Language (CQL) interface, and an updated version of DataStax OpsCenter Community Edition. For Mac developers, DataStax OpsCenter is being made available on that platform for the first time. Both the new Windows bundle and the Mac Version of DataStax OpsCenter are immediately available on the company's website downloads page. 'We want to ensure we're doing everything possible to make Cassandra easy-to-use for developers,' said Jonathan Ellis, co-founder and CTO, DataStax and Apache Cassandra chair.

'The new Windows installer and Mac support for OpsCenter make it possible for developers to get up and running with Cassandra in just a few minutes.' Customers this year continue to choose Cassandra over competing solutions because of its high-performance with linear scalability, no single points of failure, multi-data center support, and dynamic schema capabilities. Combining these features along with native optimization for the cloud and the ability to easily tackle big data workloads makes Cassandra the NoSQL platform of choice for enterprise-class, mission-critical applications. The new DataStax Community Edition for Windows and Mac support for DataStax OpsCenter makes it easier for developers to create and deploy applications that target those big data systems.

The radical shift to digital mechanisms for almost every process is evident across all industries and verticals. This is often especially true in financial services, where the legacy environment is many times unable to keep up with the rapidly shifting demands of the consumer.

The constant pressure to provide complete, omnichannel delivery of customer-facing solutions to meet both regulatory and customer demands is putting enormous pressure on. IoT is rapidly becoming mainstream as more and more investments are made into the platforms and technology. As this movement continues to expand and gain momentum it creates a massive wall of noise that can be difficult to sift through. Unfortunately, this inevitably makes IoT less approachable for people to get started with and can hamper efforts to integrate this key technology into your own portfolio. There are so many connected products already in place today with many hundreds more on the h. The standardization of container runtimes and images has sparked the creation of an almost overwhelming number of new open source projects that build on and otherwise work with these specifications.

Of course, there's Kubernetes, which orchestrates and manages collections of containers. It was one of the first and best-known examples of projects that make containers truly useful for production use. However, more recently, the container ecosystem has truly exploded. To Really Work for Enterprises, MultiCloud Adoption Requires Far Better and Inclusive Cloud Monitoring and Cost Management But How? Overwhelmingly, even as enterprises have adopted cloud computing and are expanding to multi-cloud computing, IT leaders remain concerned about how to monitor, manage and control costs across hybrid and multi-cloud deployments. It’s clear that traditional IT monitoring and management approaches, designed after all for on-premises data centers, are falling short in. Concerns about security, downtime and latency, budgets, and general unfamiliarity with cloud technologies continue to create hesitation for many organizations that truly need to be developing a cloud strategy. Hybrid cloud solutions are helping to elevate those concerns by enabling the combination or orchestration of two or more platforms, including on-premise infrastructure, private clouds and/or third-party, public cloud services. This gives organizations more comfort to begin their digital transformation without a complete overhaul of their existing infrastructure - serving as a sort of 'mi. Does anyone know how to install DataStax DevCenter on Mac? I am taking a NoSQL class where we were asked to install Cassandra. All the windows users installed Cassandra and DevCenter. I did install Cassandra on my computer using HomeBrew, but I was having problem running cqlch commands due file path not found. I was thinking if I could install DataStax DevCenter, it would be easier for me to run command. Can anyone advise please?

Regarding the error message I received of path not found, below is an example of what I encountered: cqlsh:stockwatcher source '/Users/UserName/Downloads/Stockwatcher/labs/lab6b/insertusers.cql'; Could not open '/Users/UserName/Downloads/Stockwatcher/labs/lab6b/insertusers.cql': Errno 2 No such file or directory: '/Users/UserName/Downloads/Stockwatcher/labs/lab6b/insertusers.cql'.
